Silly season fun and games

The Bottle Game

Senior solicitor Ali’s family enjoys a self-proclaimed 'dumb tradition' each Christmas. They pop open a bottle of bubbles and when it is finished each person takes turns throwing it over their shoulder at a target. Make sure you're outdoors with a bit of space!

For your consideration

As Kelsey quite rightly points out, the correct Christmas agenda is a cycle of Eat/Drink/Sleep/Eat/Drink/Sleep. But if TV is on the menu she recommends two Christmas classics: The Holiday (2006) and Love Actually (2003).

Here are a few more of FL’s favourite movies to digest Christmas lunch to:

  • Scrooged (1988) - An underrated, oft-overlooked Bill Murray vehicle. Good 80s fun.

  • Gremlins (1984) - An absolute classic.

  • Gremlins 2 (1990) - The very strange sequel to Gremlins. Recommended for its mindbogglingly non-sensical plot. Great so-bad-its-good watching.

  • Die Hard (1988) - A controversial opinion but this is a Christmas movie.

  • Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001) - It’s hard to say why, but this is also definitely a Christmas movie.

  • Home Alone (1990) - The ultimate crowd-pleaser.

  • Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992) - Arguably better than the first.

  • Elf (2003) - Fun for the whole family.

  • Bad Santa (2003) - Not one for the whole family!

  • The Castle (1997) - Maybe not a Christmas movie, but you don’t need an excuse to watch it.

Stocking Stuffers

Hannah usually makes homemade limoncello as gifts (a secret recipe).  She’s not just good at giving gifts but receiving them as well. She and her siblings still get Santa stockings even though they’re all grown up.  She’s hoping this won’t be the last year!
