Get to know- Jonathan Lewis (Senior Solicitor)

How long have you been practising law, and how long have you been with Fee Langstone?

I have been practising for five years now, doing everything from refugee law to insolvency, employment to building defects litigation. I’ve been lucky to have an eclectic start to my career, working on a range of interesting and challenging issues.  I joined Fee Langstone in October 2018, and the variety of work so far has made me feel right at home.

If you weren’t a lawyer, what do you think you’d be doing?

I would probably be writing or producing theatre. I’ve had a passion for stories and story-telling ever since I was a kid, and I’ve kept my hand in theatre projects since joining the profession. I’ve met a surprising number of lawyers who have done the same thing, likely due to the fact the skillsets involved aren’t that dissimilar – attention to detail, creative problem-solving and being aware of your audience.

What do you think sets Fee Langstone apart from other firms?

The breadth of their expertise – If you don’t know the answer to a question immediately, I would lay odds someone in the office will. The culture has been set in a way whereby that knowledge-base is easily accessible, which is an incredibly useful asset to have.

What makes insurance law different from other areas of practice?

The diverse range of work coming across your desk. Insurance lawyers have to engage with so many cross-disciplinary skills in the natural course of their work, which tends to inform the ways in which you are able to resolve disputes for your clients or quickly learn how their particular business works.
